Students holding the RN license must meet freshman and sophomore requirements. Associate Degree graduates may be exempt from some freshman and sophomore general studies courses depending upon year of graduation. Transcripts will be evaluated on an individual basis to determine the students prerequisite needs for admission to the upper division nursing program. A nursing advisor will assist in determining exact requirements. The RN to BSN program may be completed in three (3) semesters if all prerequisite courses are completed. A total of 141 hours are required for graduation. The School of Nursing assumes neither responsibility over the way prerequisite courses are offered nor their scheduling.
RN's entering the MTSU curriculum will receive advanced standing credit for their knowledge and experience in the field of nursing. Thirty seven (37) hours plus NFS 2220 and PHED 2100 are posted to their record upon successful matriculation in the upper division. Credit will be posted to the official transcript the semester prior to graduation.
Upon successful completion of
prerequisites, RN students take required nursing courses (see below). All nursing coursework, excluding clinical
courses, may be taken online. Clinical experiences are arranged on an individual
basis. Every effort is made to arrange a clinical experience in the students home
area. The following sequence of courses implies a commitment on the part of the MTSU
School of Nursing to offer the courses online during the identified semester.
Traditional classroom courses may be taken but no scheduling guarantees can be
made.
The curriculum is
currently under revision.
