Welcome to the MTSU School of
Nursing!

We live in a tumultuous and ever changing
world. Our growing national shortage of nurses at the bedside,
educators in our school’s and college’s of nursing, and the
anticipated retirement of close to 50% of the nations nursing
deans within the next five years are a real concern.
Nurses practicing in our healthcare agencies and our educational
programs are challenged to provide patient care and nursing
education with sparse resources. Nurses are confronted with
increasing complex patient care issues both in healthcare
agencies and our communities, and an increased demand from a
diverse society for culturally congruent and quality
healthcare. Nursing education at the baccalaureate and graduate
level will provide the knowledge and skills to meet the health
needs of society, which includes a rapidly growing elder
population.
The
Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) School of Nursing
offers outstanding quality programs in our generic BSN degree
program, RN to BSN online program, MSN Regents Online Degree
Program (RODP) with four (4) specialty tracks in Nursing
Administration, Nursing Education, Healthcare Informatics, and
Advanced Practice Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), and
teach courses in the MS-PS (Master of Science in Professional
Science) in the Health Information Management (HIM) field. Our
student-centered approach in a climate of mutual respect
contributes to a nurse and health care professional that are
excellent critical-thinkers, problem-solvers, and leaders for
the future.
The nursing faculty are actively engaged with our community
partners to provide outstanding clinical experiences for our
nursing students. Our faculty members are active scholars,
community leaders providing service-learning opportunities to
students thereby enhancing their civic responsibilities, and
practitioners. They will help you develop an individual
philosophy of nurse practice and an expansive world view for
nursing and
healthcare as you embark on your role as a professional nurse.
The school is committed to continuing education to meet the
learning needs of RNs in practice. Ms. Pam Roesler, MSN, works
with nursing professionals in varying roles to develop and
initiate educational programs. We provide CEUs and have provider
status through the Tennessee Nurses Association.
I welcome you to our nursing school and quality programs taught
on the MTSU campus.
Thanks
again for joining us on our school web site!
